Actividad 1: Business Communication
Business Communication.
Activity 1.
1. How do you define communication?
Communication to me is an instrument to share ideas and transmit information.
And also it helps to create and build strong relationships with people around
us.
2. What is the role of communication in the management of the business? It is proven that effective communication can lead to business success, effective communication helps us to lead a company correctly. We could say that is the blood of the company, we need to learn how to fix the intern problems by communication.
3. What are the different purposes of communication? Briefly explain any five of them.
- For integration: bring about inter-relationship among the
various functions of the business organization. It helps in the unification of
different management functions.
- For information: The purposes
are to inform the individual or group about the particular task or
company policies and procedures
- For evaluation: Examination of activities to form an idea or judgment of the worth of the task.
- For direction: Communication is necessary to issue
directions by the top management or
- manager to the lower level.
- For teaching: A complete communication process is required to teach and educate workers about personal safety on the jobs.
4. Discuss the different situations when the communication exists: We need to have very specific situations to define communication as communication:
- Sender/transmitter: There is always a person who wants to share information.
- Receiver: That is the person to whom the information is going to be shared.
- The receiver has to understand the information passed on to him.
- The receiver responds to the message.
Starting the communication cycle.
5. “Communication is an exchange of facts, ideas, opinions and emotions by two or more persons.” Explain the statement and discuss the role of feedback in communication.
Communication could not be called that if it is not ambiguous, you have to be open to sharing information but also to receive it. Always being respectful of the opinions of others and understanding that we all have different perspectives.
6. “Communication is the two-way process.”
Explain.
As I said before, communication needs to be ambiguous, sharing and receiving information because if the information just goes one way, we cannot talk about effective communication. And it is also because of the components involved in the communication process because we need to have a sender and a receiver.
7. Discuss the elements of communication
process.
- Sender: The person who is sharing an opinion, or any kind of message.
- Message: The idea is sharing the sender.
- Encoding: That is how the communicator shares the idea in his mind.
- Channel: This is how the idea is going to be shared, how are you going to share this idea with the receiver.
- Receiver: The person who is going to catch the information, process it, and after gives feedback.
- Decoding: That is how the receiver is going to take the information to interpret it and after processing everything give us feedback.
- Feedback: The exchange process, this part consists of the receiver process the information and give us an answer about it creating a conversation.
8. Give three examples of brain drain in communication process.
- It could be when we use technical words and we don´t explain with easy-to-understand words creating a brain drain.
- Also when we use a different language if we are in a casual conversation with friends and we use fancy and formal words to communicate. We would be sending a message with the wrong encoding.
- When our accent is different because sometimes our pronunciation is different so people misunderstood the meaning of our sentence.

ResponderBorrarHi Majo! I read your work, we share some ideas, we defined ‘communication’ with synonyms but it is the same feeling! Of course, I agree, this tool helps us to build relationships according the information that we want to share: ideas, facts, feelings, etc.
ResponderBorrarWhen we are talking about business, what is the most important part of it?, absolutely: communication, how you said, it is the ‘blood’, it leads the organization to the proposed success
Wow! Actually we almost wrote the same purposes of communication, perhaps I could include more context in the ‘for teaching’ point, like: ‘provide the politics, rules, activities and the correct process of something, in this way, we avoid misunderstandings, accidents, etc.’
Excellent job Majo!
Great, Majo! Communication it's great to build relationships, ideas, facts, feelings to achieve goals and have a lot of success. Nice job. :)
ResponderBorrarI really enjoyed the way you summarized the information provided by our teacher. I share the same ideas about the fact that says "communication is a two-way process and how keeping a healthy communication while doing business is necessary for it to succeed.
ResponderBorrarI agree with you and I liked how you defined communication, the point of view is great.
ResponderBorrarWe got the same ideas, I agree with your examples of brain drain, it happened to me when i use different words and the other person misunderstands
ResponderBorrarHi Majo!! I share almost the same ideas in the definition of communication, and I really liked something that you said there which is "build strong relationships" of course it does, I didn't mentioned that in my own definition but you are completely right! Communication builds relationships, they even say that if you want to have a good relationship with your couple communication is a key factor for that!
ResponderBorrarHi Majo, I really liked the your work here, it's interesting how in question one we have different answers but leading to the same idea.
